For every package shipped, "offsets" are donated to causes that support environmental projects including protecting forests that improve air quality and absorb carbon, sponsoring wind and solar farms that generate clean energy and replace fossil fuels, and developing greener methods for producing auto parts. This is made possible by Etsy, who is becoming the first global ecommerce company to offset 100% of carbon emissions generated by shipping.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
In 2021, we are investing into transitioning all of our shipping materials to be either 100% compostable or recycled. As a small business, this is a challenging but important step. You may notice repurposed padding materials in your order box.

Product Integrity and Ethics
Our Oils
Open Heart Apothecary oils are formulated with a deep knowledge of the science of Aromatherapy. They contain no synthetic fragrances, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, preservatives, or chemicals. They are 100% pure, non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free. We source our raw ingredients from companies that create sustainably wildcrafted/organic essential oils and certificates of analysis in each batch.
Our Crystals
The crystals we sell are never radiated or dyed. A few are treated with heat in a kiln to enhance the color (such as Citrine), and this is also disclosed in the product description. We do not sell high-conflict stones such as diamonds, rubies, sapphires, malachite, and lapis lazuli. There is no international standard for crystal ethics, so the responsibility is up to us to do our research and we are constantly investigating the world of crystal mining making improvements as we go.
Indigenous Respect
We acknowledge that the products and practices we promote have origins in Indigenous communities for thousands of years. We celebrate these communities, offer course scholarships and donations, and provide land acknowledgements whenever possible.
